  News From Around the District.......................

The Johnstown PA RC Club held it's annual Mall Show at the Galleria Mall, just outside of Johnstown in early May of 2016.   Over 35 planes were on display for the three day event.  The club provides paper plate airplanes for the youngsters and chances off a fully equipped RC Trainer.

Our newest Associate District III V.P. is Dave Chisholm from western Pennsylvania.  Above he poses with his 1/3 scale Tomahawk L-39 Turbine.  It weighs in ready to roll at 72 lbs, with a 106 inch wingspan and is 132 inches in length.   Dave says it's a dream to fly!  We welcome Dave to the leadership team!

The Johnstown RC Club,  Johnstown, PA held it's annual winter Indoor Fly-In on February 2nd, and had a great turnout!  A short meeting, followed by a "winter picnic" and then they rolled back the tables and chairs and flew all sorts of indoor aircraft including "Night Vapors" "Mini-Vapors", various "Drones", small helies,  rubber powered aircraft, and even a "flapping bird"  Two members brought in their computers with RC simulators to the enjoyment of the youngsters and guests.    This is the 15th year of this great winter event and several potential new club members were in attendance.

Thanks to AMA V.P. Mark Radcliff for sending in the pictures from the 2016 AMA EXPO

The Johnstown RC Club, from Johnstown, PA was recently featured on a TV program that aired on ABC 23-WATM called "Kaleidoscope the Series" which features interesting and fun things to do in  the Johnstown, PA area.   It really came out nice and highlights their local RC Club and the hobby we all enjoy.   To watch the entire episode............    One of the highights of the AMA National Model Aviation Day was the first annual "Warbirds over WV" hosted by the Wing Nutz of St. Marys RC Club.  Above is a great picture of the assembled P-51 models from that day, plus a local veteran, Charlie Plemens made a surprise visit to the outing, who flew P-51's during WWII.  He was a great inspiration to all who attended!

Above, Mark Radcliff, our AMA District III V.P. with veteran Charlie Plemens, who flew P-51's during WW-II, standing behind  Mark's P-51.

AMA District III was pleased to honor Jay Gerber, who received the AMA Hall of Fame award from D-III Vice President, Mark Radcliff.  This took place at the three day "Wings over Piper" event held on Saturday, August 8th at the William T.
