The Johnstown RC Club, from Johnstown, PA was recently featured on a TV program that aired on ABC 23-WATM called "Kaleidoscope the Series" which features interesting and fun things to do in  the Johnstown, PA area.   It really came out nice and highlights their local RC Club and the hobby we all enjoy.   To watch the entire episode............    This is not a contest, but any club "Fly-A-Thon" for this famous control line model airplane flown by more modelers than any other control line ever!   Click Here  to see the complete details of this interesting event which will take place in early October, 2015

One of the highights of the AMA National Model Aviation Day was the first annual "Warbirds over WV" hosted by the Wing Nutz of St. Marys RC Club.  Above is a great picture of the assembled P-51 models from that day, plus a local veteran, Charlie Plemens made a surprise visit to the outing, who flew P-51's during WWII.  He was a great inspiration to all who attended!

Above, Mark Radcliff, our AMA District III V.P. with veteran Charlie Plemens, who flew P-51's during WW-II, standing behind  Mark's P-51.

AMA District III was pleased to honor Jay Gerber, who received the AMA Hall of Fame award from D-III Vice President, Mark Radcliff.  This took place at the three day "Wings over Piper" event held on Saturday, August 8th at the William T. Piper Memorial Airport at Lock Haven, PA   For additional pictures from the event....   Click Here

The 2015 Annual Toledo Show was again a huge success with thousands of RC flyers from all over attending.  Anything any of us might desire was there for view, and much for sale!  District III held a meeting on Saturday afternoon with a full room of AMA members present.  Hunter Jones, top right, received the District III and AMA Young Modeler Award, plus a $795 Scholarship to Camp AMA.  Several clubs received awards for bringing our RC hobby to young modelers, Speakers included AMA President Bob Brown, Mark Radcliff, Tony Stillman, Executive Director Dave Mathewson, among others.               For additional pictures from the event............. The Valley Brook RC Club located in New Florence, PA recently lost one of their members to cancer.  Ray McGarvey loved our RC hobby and requested that his ashes be dispersed at the club's flying field. The club put together an evening of tribute to Ray and about 30 members of Ray's family attended to see a portion of his ashes take a final flight at their field, and then his daughter spread his ashes across the field where Ray enjoyed flying.       It was a touching tribute to Ray who would have been very pleased!  Pictures above clockwise are Ray McGarvey,  members of his family, Valley Brook Club members (L to R) Dave O'Shell, Gary Shoup, Jeff Hayes, Club Prez. Marlene Rumbaugh, Mel Rumbaugh, and Roger Luther, and Roger's Escapade with Ray inside the canopy ready for his final flight!

The Thermal-G Club of Erie, Pa recently held their annual swap meet.  It was very well attended and even made the evening news on TV 24!  Around noontime, everything came to a standstill as AMA President Bob Brown, executive V.P. Gary Finch, and Jack Graham gave an informative update about UAV flyers and what the AMA has been discussing with the FAA.  Jack also reviewed the requirements of flying "drones"  and what we can and cannot do with these new devices!
