News From Around the District.......................
The Wyoming Valley RC Flyers recently held their Float Fly at Moon Lake County Park, in Hunlock Creek, PA. It was held the 7th of September and was a wonderful day in the mid 70's with about 325 spectators to watch the action! The club ran out of hotdogs and hamburgers and had to go get additional supplies to meet the demand. Members of the Johnstown RC Club presented a demonstration to a group of Cub Scouts who were participating in a Summer Day Camp in New Germany, PA. Above, club member Bruce Thomas explains how the control surfaces work to control the plane plus other aspects about our RC hobby. Club member Zane Kough flew his helicopter for the group, as well as Bruce, who flew his electric Beaver. The group really appreciated the demo and leaders said they will ask the club to return again next year. Also participating were club members Neil Woffinden and Roger Luther

The Johnstown, PA RC Club, held it's annual Mall Show over the weekend of May 2,3,4 at the Galleria Mall, just outside of Johnstown. The club had about 40 planes on display, had a simulator set up for visitors, and gave out toy planes to the youngsters. Everyone seemed to enjoy the event!

District V.P. Mark Radcliff held an all District III group meeting at the recent Toledo Show. It was attended by most of the AVP's from District III, as well as many AMA folks including AMA President Bob Brown. Above, a check is presented to Tom Kroggel, president of the Flying Tigers RC Club, for their work in getting the word out to the public about the benefits of joining the AMA. The Toledo Show was again a great hit with modelers from all over the country, especially from our own District III area. Thanks to our D-III V.P. Mark Radcliff for these wonderful photos. The Mountain Modelaires RC Club located in Wellsboro, PA now holds a weekly In-Door Fly-In during the winter months at the Charlotte Lappla Elementary School Gym. Above, from Left to Right are John Eaton, Frank Granelli, John Walker, Jim Bockus, Perley Brown, and Ed Staron. This indoor activity compliments their outdoor flying fun during the warmer months at their field located off Hilboldt Road in Charleston Township.
